Electrical Engineer - Power Distribution & Critical Infrastructure

Position Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design and delivery of power distribution solutions for critical infrastructure and industrial applications. This role focuses on the development of medium- and low-voltage electrical systems serving data centers, industrial facilities, utility infrastructure, renewable energy projects, and other complex power environments.
The successful candidate will contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design and equipment selection through manufacturing support, commissioning, and field implementation. This position offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design medium- and low-voltage electrical power distribution systems for industrial and mission-critical facilities.
- Develop and review one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, power layouts, and construction documents.
- Specify electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, transfer switches, UPS systems, protective relays, and related distribution equipment.
- Support short-circuit, protective device coordination, grounding, and arc-flash studies.
- Develop protection and control philosophies for electrical power systems.
- Design auxiliary electrical systems including lighting, panelboards, AC/DC power distribution, and control panels.
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with automation, HVAC, fire protection, and mechanical systems.
- Prepare engineering documentation, bills of materials, and equipment specifications.
- Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, field service, and project management teams throughout project execution.
- Participate in factory testing, commissioning, startup support, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and project requirements.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and engineering best practices.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical power distribution, industrial electrical systems, or infrastructure design.
- Experience supporting medium-voltage systems ranging from approximately 5 kV to 35 kV.
- Understanding of switchgear, transformers, protective relays, and power distribution equipment.
- Familiarity with short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies.
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and related industry standards.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar engineering software.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Experience supporting data centers, utility infrastructure, renewable energy, energy storage, mining, or industrial facilities.
- Familiarity with standby and emergency power systems.
- Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) and utility interconnection projects.
- Exposure to medium-voltage protection schemes and arc-resistant electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of switchgear assemblies, transformers, UPS systems, and large-scale power distribution installations.
Additional Information
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure is not required for this position but preferred.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is not required but preferred.
- Candidates with strong hands-on experience in electrical power systems, industrial facilities, utility infrastructure, switchgear, or critical infrastructure projects are encouraged to apply regardless of licensure status.

Compensation & Benefits
