Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Power Systems Lead to join this dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with PSSE and PSCAD, a strong understanding of the National Electricity Rules (NER), and a passion for enabling the next generation of renewable energy projects. You will play a key role in delivering technical studies, grid connection applications, and compliance assessments for large-scale renewable and storage projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver power system studies (load flow, dynamic, and transient analysis) using PSSE and PSCAD for renewable energy and battery storage projects.
  • Prepare and review grid connection applications, Generator Performance Standards (GPS), and technical documentation in line with NER requirements.
  • Liaise with AEMO, NSPs, and project stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure timely project approvals.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Stay up to date with evolving NEM regulations, standards, and modelling practices.
  • Contribute to business development, proposal preparation, and client engagement as a senior technical expert.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in power systems engineering, with a focus on grid connection for renewable energy projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in PSSE and PSCAD, including model development and troubleshooting.
  • In-depth knowledge of the National Electricity Rules (NER) and Generator Technical Performance Standards (GTPS).
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with AEMO, NSPs, and regulatory bodies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, collaborative approach.

Desirable:

  • CPEng or RPEQ accreditation (or working towards).
  • Experience with other simulation tools (e.g., PowerFactory, EMT-type studies).
  • Previous consultancy experience highly regarded.
