A leading utility and heavy civil contractor is seeking a Manager of Foundation Operations to oversee foundation construction activities across multiple active projects. This position is ideal for a proven operations leader who thrives in the field, excels at managing teams and resources, and can drive safe, efficient project delivery while supporting broader business growth.
Role Overview
The Manager of Foundation Operations will take full responsibility for coordinating crews, equipment, schedules, and field execution for foundation‑related scopes within the utility sector. This role provides day‑to‑day leadership for field teams, resolves operational challenges, and ensures work is performed safely, on time, and to a high standard of quality. The position also plays a key role in business development-building relationships, identifying opportunities, and contributing to the strategic expansion of the foundation operations group.
What You'll Do
* Lead and supervise foundation construction operations across multiple projects
* Develop schedules, allocate labor/equipment, and track performance
* Partner with engineers, project managers, and internal teams to resolve site challenges
* Mentor, train, and develop field supervisors and crews
* Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships to support cost‑effective delivery
* Conduct QA/QC inspections and ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements
* Track KPIs for productivity, equipment utilization, safety, and quality
* Oversee reporting of labor, equipment, materials, and daily progress
* Identify process improvements and support long‑term divisional planning
What You Bring
* 10+ years in operations management, utility construction, foundations, or heavy civil
* Strong field leadership experience with crews and multi‑project oversight
* Solid understanding of foundation construction methods and safety regulations
* Proficiency with scheduling and project management tools
* Strong communication, organization, and decision‑making skills
* Ability to travel between project sites; based in Michigan
