Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced National Sales Manager - Water & Utilities to lead commercial strategy, national sales performance, and strategic market engagement across New Zealand's water, wastewater, and utilities sectors.
This senior position is responsible for overseeing a nationwide sales team, driving major project acquisition, and strengthening relationships with councils, engineering consultants, and tier‑one contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Market Leadership
- Lead national sales strategy across water, wastewater, drainage, and utilities product lines, including pipelines, fittings, valves, manholes, and engineered water infrastructure solutions.
- Grow and manage a substantial pipeline of major civil and utility projects, tenders, and strategic partnerships.
- Collaborate with internal technical specialists and engineered product managers to deliver customised solutions for complex water infrastructure requirements.
Customer, Council & Consultant Engagement
- Build and strengthen relationships with local councils, engineering consultancies, utilities, and major civil contractors to increase specification and market share.
- Act as a senior technical and commercial advisor for water infrastructure design, installation methods, and product application.
Team Leadership & Sales Excellence
- Lead, mentor, and develop a cross‑functional national sales team aligned to commercial targets and customer experience standards.
- Oversee CRM discipline, sales reporting, forecasting, and portfolio P&L performance.
- Direct the preparation of tenders, pricing strategies, technical proposals, and commercial negotiations.
Technical & Solution Development
- Apply high‑level mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic expertise to support solution development, product selection, and system design.
- Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to support custom builds and project‑specific design requirements that align with New Zealand and international standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- 15+ years' experience in the water, wastewater, utilities, or irrigation sectors within New Zealand.
- Strong technical background across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, with experience advising consultants and contractors.
- Proven national sales leadership experience, including P&L ownership, strategic account management, and building large project pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability to influence councils, engineering firms, and contractors at senior levels.
- Excellence in tender preparation, commercial negotiation, and technical communication.
- Strong team leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
