Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Project Manager with strong expertise in medical gas systems to oversee plumbing and medical gas installation projects in the Raleigh market. This role is responsible for managing projects from pre‑construction through closeout, ensuring quality work, code compliance, profitability, and outstanding customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate brings deep technical understanding of plumbing systems in healthcare environments and strong leadership experience within the mechanical contracting industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage plumbing and medical gas projects from planning to turnover, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion.
- Coordinate with clients, general contractors, engineers, and field supervisors to ensure scope alignment and address project needs.
- Oversee installation of medical gas systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA 99 standards and all applicable codes.
- Manage project schedules, manpower planning, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and procurement of materials/equipment.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, safety, and adherence to design documents.
- Prepare project documentation, including cost reports, progress updates, and status meetings.
- Work closely with field leadership to provide direction on installation methods, sequencing, and technical challenges.
- Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships, including pricing, scope review, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure proper testing, certification, and commissioning of medical gas systems.
- Support project closeout activities, including punch list completion, turnover documentation, and owner training.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management experience with a mechanical or plumbing contractor.
- Hands-on experience with medical gas systems installation and testing.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 99, medical gas codes, healthcare construction standards, and plumbing codes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in commercial, healthcare, or institutional environments.
- Strong communication, organization, and client-facing skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam).
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Gas Installer or Verifier certification (e.g., ASSE 6010/6020).
- Experience with hospitals, outpatient facilities, and specialized healthcare plumbing systems.
- Background with design‑build or design‑assist mechanical projects.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required).
