Power Generation Supervisor
We're seeking an experienced Power Generation Supervisor to lead and oversee the operation and maintenance of our generation facilities. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role ensures safe, efficient power production while providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of safety and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Oversight & Maintenance
- Supervise daily operations and maintenance of power-generating equipment-such as turbines, generators, boilers/trash heaters-to ensure reliable service and optimal performance.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and enforce strict adherence to safety and electrical regulations.
- Staff Leadership & Training
- Manage a team of operators, technicians, and maintenance staff; including hiring, scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action.
- Lead training programs for both routine operations and emergency response procedures.
- Compliance & Safety Management
- Maintain full compliance with OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and utility industry best practices.
- Issue and manage work permits (e.g., confined space, hot work) and coordinate safety protocols during repairs.
- Data Analysis & Efficiency Improvement
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics; identify and implement improvements to boost reliability and capacity.
- Coordinate with engineering, pre-scheduling, and maintenance teams to streamline operations.
- Emergency Response & Troubleshooting
- Respond promptly to breakdowns or system failures and lead corrective actions.
- Budgeting & Procurement
- Prepare and manage budgets for maintenance operations and equipment upgrades.
- Oversee procurement of parts, supplies, and contractor services as needed.
Ideal Qualifications
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Power, or a related Engineering discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in power plant operations or energy management
- Technical & Physical Requirements
- Strong electrical aptitude, with knowledge of high-voltage systems, controls, switchgear, PLCs, and generators.
- Understanding of thermal systems, boiler operations, steam turbines, or combustion engines is a plus.
- Physical ability to inspect plant equipment and work in various environmental conditions.
