Power Trading Manager
Your responsibilities:
- Develop and manage physical Japan power trading books to generate margins and improve profitability.
- Grow proprietary trading activities (physical and paper) with existing and new counterparties in Japan, with a focus on power and related fuels.
- Execute and monitor proprietary trading strategies defined at the regional level.
- Lead contract negotiations, due diligence, and trade execution in close coordination with internal stakeholders.
- Provide trading expertise to support origination and commercial activities in the Japanese market.
- Ensure full compliance with risk management frameworks, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Build and strengthen commercial relationships across the APAC energy market.
- Collaborate with traders, analysts, and cross-border teams to structure new products and execute transactions.
Your background & profile:
- University degree in business, finance, economics, or an energy-related discipline.
- Proven experience in physical power trading in Japan, including JPEX/OTC markets, scheduling rules, and operations.
- Strong understanding of hedging strategies, power and fuel markets, renewables, and relevant market regulations.
- Creative, commercially minded deal-maker with a strong results orientation.
- Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build long-term relationships.
- Fluent in both English and Japanese (mandatory).
