Principal Engineer

Automation & Controls Development

  • Architect and implement control systems for industrial automation, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA platforms.
  • Design electrical diagrams, control panels, and system layouts.
  • Integrate robotics, machine vision, and motion control technologies.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in electrical systems and automation software.
  • Evaluate system performance and recommend enhancements.
  • Conduct rigorous testing to ensure solutions meet regulatory and operational standards.

Project Execution & Leadership

  • Partner with multidisciplinary teams to deliver automation solutions from concept to deployment.
  • Develop and debug control logic and automation programs.
  • Act as the technical liaison for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering best practices and documentation standards.
  • Provide mentorship and technical direction to junior staff and technicians.

Client Engagement

  • Build and sustain strong client relationships through proactive communication and support.
  • Translate customer challenges into actionable engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to proposal development and participate in pre-sales discussions.

Innovation & R&D

  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Participate in product development and market analysis efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in automation, controls, or electrical engineering.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems and their integration with control platforms.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., NEC, UL, NFPA, IEEE, CSA, CE).
  • Expertise in PLC and HMI programming, especially with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley or Siemens systems.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and evolving project requirements.
  • Skilled at guiding clients toward effective technical decisions.

Additional Details

  • Travel requirements are minimal (under 25%).
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus but not mandatory.
