We are partnering with an established environmental and workplace health consultancy that is expanding its occupational hygiene capability in response to strong client demand. They are seeking a Principal Occupational Hygienist to take a lead technical role delivering high-quality hygiene programs, complex assessments, and client advisory work.
This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys being hands-on technically - designing monitoring programs, interpreting results, and producing clear, defensible reports - while also acting as a trusted senior advisor to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead occupational hygiene projects end-to-end (scope, methodology, fieldwork oversight, analysis, reporting)
- Deliver exposure and risk assessments across chemical, physical and biological hazards (e.g., particulates/dust, silica, asbestos, vapours, noise, etc.)
- Design and run exposure monitoring programs (personal and static sampling; noise surveys/dosimetry as relevant)
- Interpret monitoring data and provide practical, risk-based recommendations and control strategies
- Produce high-quality technical reports with clear conclusions aligned to relevant standards and guidelines
- Provide senior technical guidance to clients and internal teams; support mentoring where required
- Contribute to the growth of the hygiene function through technical leadership and client engagement
About You
- AIOH Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH) (or clearly on track / close to achieving COH) [aioh.org.au]
- Strong consulting background in occupational hygiene with demonstrated technical delivery
- Highly capable in technical report writing and translating data into clear, actionable advice
- Confident working autonomously, managing multiple projects and priorities
- Client-facing communication skills and ability to build long-term relationships
Location / Relocation
This role is Melbourne-based, however interstate candidates who are motivated to relocate to Melbourne are encouraged to apply.
