Position Overview

A dynamic and innovative materials science company is seeking a skilled Process Engineer to drive process optimization and scale-up initiatives at its innovation center and partner facilities.

This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in collaborating with R&D teams to transition new products into scalable, cost-effective processes. Key Responsibilities

The Process Engineer will lead efforts to scale up polymer chemistry and membrane fabrication processes. This includes optimizing production lines, improving equipment performance, and ensuring seamless technology transfer from R&D to production.

Primary duties include:

- Enhancing polymer synthesis, coating, and membrane fabrication processes to boost efficiency, reduce downtime, and lower production costs.
- Designing and executing experiments to refine process parameters and improve product consistency.
- Providing safety and process design guidance to technical teams.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align production capabilities with new product development goals.
- Supporting rapid prototyping and pilot production runs.
- Implementing and evaluating process modifications for quality, cost, and throughput improvements.
- Troubleshooting process deviations and equipment issues.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation, including SOPs, P&IDs, and process descriptions.
- Leading scale-up activities at external production sites, including equipment commissioning and validation.
- Training operators and technicians on process operations and best .
- Acting as the primary liaison with equipment vendors for troubleshooting, upgrades, and new installations.

Preferred Qualifications

1 . Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
2 . At least 5 years of experience in chemical or materials-based production, including pilot-scale operations and roll-to-roll processing.
3. Proven ability to lead scale-up and prototyping initiatives.
4. Experience with PLC-controlled electro-mechanical systems.
5. Familiarity with control logic and process automation.
6. Background in high-growth or startup environments is a plus.

- Location: Full-time, on-site position based in Woburn, MA.
- Travel: Occasional travel required (10-20%) for external production support.
