Project Engineer (Rail)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager to support the successful execution of transit infrastructure projects for a leading construction general contractor. The ideal candidate will have experience working on New York City Transit (NYCT) and/or Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) projects and a strong foundation in construction management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in coordinating all phases of construction, from pre-construction through closeout.
- Manage and track project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and meeting minutes.
- Collaborate with field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and agency representatives to ensure timely and compliant project execution.
- Monitor project schedules and budgets; assist in preparing progress reports and forecasts.
- Support quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to NYCT/LIRR standards and procedures.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and coordination meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience working on NYCT and/or LIRR projects.
- Prior experience with a general contractor on heavy civil or transit-related construction projects.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with construction management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ADA train station upgrades or new station installations.
- Working knowledge of Primavera P6 scheduling software.
