Project Engineer - Water Distribution & Sanitary Sewer | Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
My client, a well-established, award-winning multi-disciplinary A/E firm with a 40+ year track record of delivering high-impact infrastructure across the Mid-Atlantic and Appalachian region, is expanding into North Carolina, and building out their new Charlotte office with a Project Engineer focused on water distribution and sanitary sewer collection design
What you'll be going:
- Design the relocation, rehabilitation, and replacement of water and sanitary sewer facilities impacted by roadway and municipal infrastructure projects across North Carolina.
- Prepare project deliverables, specifications, and cost estimates for NCDOT design-bid and design-build projects, as well as municipal clients.
- Analyze existing water and sanitary sewer facilities for conflicts with proposed roadway, storm drainage, traffic control, and structural designs.
- Prepare water and sanitary sewer permit applications for the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ).
- Provide technical marketing support during procurement of key pursuits.
- Conduct occasional field investigations and attend client/stakeholder meetings.
- Support the mentorship of junior engineers as the Charlotte team continues to scale.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline).
- Minimum 5 years of engineering design experience supporting the water/wastewater industry.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- CAD proficiency required (MicroStation or AutoCAD preferred).
- Strong technical communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Creative problem-solver with a track record of finding practical solutions to civil engineering challenges.
