Position Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for leading automation and controls projects from initiation through completion. This individual will oversee project execution, manage client relationships, coordinate technical teams, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

  • Primary Location: Indianapolis, IN
  • Travel may be required to support client sites and project activities

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage automation and controls projects from conception through commissioning and project closeout
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, scopes, and resource plans
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, designers, and technical specialists
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to clients and internal leadership
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans to ensure successful delivery
  • Oversee project financial performance, including forecasting, budgeting, and cost control
  • Manage project scope changes, change orders, and client expectations
  • Foster strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional project support
  • Ensure compliance with company, customer, and industry quality standards
  • Support mentoring and development of junior team members
  • Assist with project estimates, proposals, and strategic planning initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical discipline
  • 5-10 years of experience managing industrial automation, controls, or systems integration projects
  • Strong understanding of PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, and MES technologies
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, resources, and deliverables
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environments such as pharmaceutical, life sciences, food & beverage, consumer products, or industrial manufacturing
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, control system documentation, and engineering drawings
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to travel to customer sites as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credential
  • Systems integration or industrial automation project leadership experience
  • Exposure to platforms such as DeltaV, Rockwell Automation, PlantPAx, FactoryTalk, Siemens PCS7, Wonderware, or similar technologies
  • Experience within regulated manufacturing environments
  • Business development, account management, or client-facing leadership experience
  • Knowledge of project financial management and profitability tracking
