Job Overview

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing electrical construction projects within the commercial sector. This role will be based in IL and requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to proactively manage project performance from award through completion.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and track all project activities from award to close‑out using established project tracking tools.
  • Define project objectives, performance expectations, and quality standards in alignment with contract requirements.
  • Develop detailed project plans and assign work responsibilities.
  • Maintain proactive communication with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams to support project progress.
  • Monitor and control project schedules, costs, and productivity; provide direction to onsite foremen to ensure adherence to budget and timeline goals.
  • Represent the company in project meetings, strategy sessions, and discussions with clients.
  • Coordinate with contract administrators and support accurate, timely project documentation.
  • Prepare project reports with input from field leadership.
  • Document decisions, agreements, design changes, customer specifications, and work-in-progress updates.
  • Report schedule or cost overruns promptly and recommend corrective action.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, training, and OSHA requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety; address and correct unsafe behavior immediately.
  • Stop any work being performed in an unsafe manner and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Reinforce safety expectations through meetings, toolbox talks, JSAs, and other communication opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all customer and project requirements.
  • Manage and submit project redlines at job completion, including digital documentation.
  • Assist with managing on-site fleet and rental equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
  • Cross‑train across division functions to support team coverage and future growth opportunities.
  • Uphold company culture and maintain professional conduct on job sites, at company functions, and during client interactions.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in solar construction projects
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program
    • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree at leadership's discretion
  • Strong leadership and influence skills
  • Effective negotiation and critical‑thinking abilities
  • Experience delivering professional presentations
  • Ability to reliably follow schedules and maintain consistent attendance
  • Strong organizational, communication, and detail‑oriented skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Accubid
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
