QAQA Manager
Role Overview
The QA/QC Manager is accountable for ensuring the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) is implemented effectively and efficiently across all project activities. This role oversees QA/QC Supervisors, collaborates closely with engineering, construction, fabrication, and procurement teams, and ensures that all raw materials, in‑process work, and completed deliverables adhere to technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and applicable certifications. The manager is also responsible for establishing robust inspection and verification programs aligned with contractual and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Oversight & Compliance
- Lead project quality initiatives to ensure alignment with relevant codes, industry standards, regulations, equipment specifications, and QMS requirements.
- Champion continuous quality improvement across the organization.
- Oversee the development and execution of QMS processes for planning, fabrication, inspection, documentation, and operational activities.
Team & Workflow Management
- Direct workload planning for QA/QC personnel and develop appropriate staffing schedules.
- Set and uphold service-level expectations for internal teams and external clients.
- Establish and maintain procedures and standards for vendor evaluation and inspection processes.
- Ensure consistent execution of supplier assessments and inspection programs, consolidating vendor performance feedback and providing technical guidance to resolve quality issues.
Leadership & Certification
- Identify training needs and certification requirements for QA/QC personnel and support their ongoing professional development.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the entire QA/QC team.
- Approve hold‑point releases once all QMS activities have been completed and equipment is ready for the next phase.
Construction & Inspection Management
- Manage construction quality programs, establish reporting routines, and track follow‑up actions.
- Supervise all visual inspections and non‑destructive examination (NDE) activities, including third‑party contractors.
- Oversee inspection and testing plans for new builds, repairs, and modifications.
- Identify deficiencies in inspection processes and implement corrective measures.
Systems, Audits & Compliance
- Manage construction workflows, plant equipment QA/QC, inspector/NDE certification, and internal QMS audits.
- Ensure QA/QC activities conform to the firm's Project Management processes and all site‑specific, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
- Ensure quality planning effectively defines process controls, inspection arrangements, and verification requirements for each proposal or project.
- Confirm proper execution and verification of construction inspection and testing tasks.
- Coordinate with functional teams (construction, engineering, operations, etc.) to align project schedules and quality activities.
- Implement and monitor non‑conformance, corrective action, and preventive action processes.
- Conduct quality audits consistent with ISO 9001, including technical evaluations related to engineering, procurement, and construction.
HSE Integration
- Apply company HSE policies and objectives within assigned authority.
- Embed risk‑based thinking and HSE considerations into business planning and daily operations.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment and ensure adherence to HSE procedures.
- Proactively account for HSE risks and mitigation measures when planning or performing tasks.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline (preferred).
- 8-10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, ideally in QA/QC roles.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI - AWS) or CSWIP 3.1 (TWI UK).
- NACE Level 1 certification.
- Completed internal auditor training for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
- Strong knowledge of QMS principles and best practices for construction-related projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A resilient, proactive, and "can‑do" approach.
- Demonstrated initiative and creativity in driving continuous improvement.
