Renewables CAD Designer
Company Summary
Founded in 2009, my client, a full service EPC is looking to bring on a skilled CAD Designer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and layouts for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including community, micro-grid, and battery energy storage projects. You will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and installation teams to ensure designs are accurate, efficient, and compliant with industry standards and local regulations. This role will be based out on Albuquerque, NM.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and revise CAD drawings for solar PV systems using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software.
- Create site plans, electrical schematics, layouts, and permit-ready documentation.
- Interpret survey data, architectural drawings, and engineering specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to optimize system design and layout.
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and utility requirements.
- Support field teams with as-built drawings and design modifications as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in CAD design, preferably in solar or electrical systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar design software.
- Familiarity with NEC, local building codes, and solar permitting processes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with solar design software (e.g., Helioscope, Aurora Solar).
- Knowledge of structural and electrical engineering principles.
- GIS mapping experience is a plus.
- NABCEP certification or coursework is a bonus.
