Survey Project Manager - Role Overview
The Survey Project Manager is responsible for overseeing land survey projects from initiation to completion, ensuring quality standards and client specifications are met. This role serves as the primary point of contact between the firm and its clients, managing both field and office teams, tracking deliverables, and driving operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple land survey projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards
- Develop and oversee proposals, budgets, schedules, billing, and contracts
- Sign and seal plats, field notes, and control drawings as required
- Establish work plans and staffing needs for ongoing and upcoming projects
- Lead business development efforts and maintain strong client relationships
- Deliver presentations to clients and stakeholders
- Collaborate effectively with sub-consultants and external partners
- Support other operational units as needed
- Monitor and report financial metrics including AR/WIP and billing cycles
- Represent the firm at meetings, industry events, and trade shows
- Contribute to strategic goals through additional assigned tasks
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a professional or management capacity
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience
- Proven track record managing large-scale survey projects
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Geopack, and MS Office Suite
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly define deliverables
- Experience mentoring and motivating project teams
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly
- Capable of meeting tight deadlines while fostering collaboration
- Professional licensure preferred
