Senior Controls Service Technician
Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Controls Service Technician to join our Building Automation Systems (BAS) team. This role involves troubleshooting, servicing, and optimizing complex BAS installations across commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge of HVAC control systems and hands-on experience with platforms such as Niagara, Distech, Delta, or Alerton.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues in BAS systems, including sensors, controllers, networks, and software.
- Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs on building automation and HVAC control systems.
- System Optimization: Analyze system performance and implement improvements to enhance energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
- Technical Support: Provide advanced technical support to junior technicians and clients, both remotely and on-site.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate service records, reports, and system documentation.
- Commissioning Support: Assist in the commissioning and re-commissioning of BAS systems, including programming and point-to-point verification.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients to explain technical issues, recommend solutions, and ensure satisfaction.
- Training & Mentorship: Mentor junior technicians and assist in their technical development.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in BAS or HVAC controls service.
- Proficiency with at least one major BAS platform: Niagara (AX/N4), Distech Controls, Delta Controls, or Alerton.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, control theory, and DDC programming.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites.
