About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to join our growing team in Atlanta, GA. You will be responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning advanced control systems that ensure efficiency, reliability, and compliance across our production lines.
As a senior member of the engineering team, you will play a critical role in driving innovation and implementing best practices in industrial automation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, lead complex projects, and mentor junior engineers to help shape the future of our automation strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Develop Control Systems: Create robust PLC-based control architectures using Allen Bradley platforms (ControlLogix, CompactLogix) to support high-speed production environments.
Programming and Integration: Develop and troubleshoot PLC logic, HMI screens, and SCADA systems to ensure seamless operation and data visibility.
Drive Process Optimization: Implement automation solutions for batching, mixing, CIP, and packaging processes to maximize efficiency and reduce downtime.
VFD and Motion Control: Configure and maintain Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motion control systems for precise and reliable performance.
System Integration Leadership: Lead integration projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring alignment with operational goals and compliance standards.
Collaboration and Support: Work closely with maintenance, operations, and quality teams to resolve issues, improve processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Documentation and Compliance: Prepare detailed electrical schematics, control narratives, and ensure adherence to safety regulations and industry standards.
Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
10+ years of experience in industrial automation, preferably in Food & Beverage processing.
Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA integration.
Strong knowledge of VFDs, PID loop tuning, and industrial networking protocols.
Hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation tools (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk).
Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure in production environments.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with robotics integration and palletizing systems.
Familiarity with Wonderware HMI and other SCADA platforms.
Knowledge of AutoCAD for electrical design.
Understanding of food safety standards and regulatory compliance.
