Senior Electrical Engineer - Thermal Design
This role provides development support, conceptual design, and Owner's Engineer services for electric power generation projects. The successful candidate will support clients through technical evaluations of generation facilities, while also contributing to project economics, cost analysis, risk assessments, and contract development efforts.
You will be involved across the project lifecycle, including engineering design reviews, technical due diligence, project development support, and early-stage conceptual design. Strong experience in the electrical design of thermal power generation projects is a requirement.
This position includes opportunities for domestic and occasional international travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for the development and evaluation of electric power generation projects
- Perform engineering design reviews and technical due diligence
- Support conceptual and front-end engineering design efforts
- Assist with project development activities, including risk assessments and feasibility evaluations
- Contribute to economic analysis, cost modeling, and contract development as needed
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate findings clearly to clients
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 7+ years of experience in the electric power industry
- Hands-on experience with medium-voltage electrical system design for utility-scale thermal power projects, including:
- Simple-cycle gas turbine facilities
- Combined-cycle power plants
- Coal-fired generation
- Reciprocating engine (RICE) power plants
- Experience supporting project development and conceptual design activities
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Authorization to work in the United States (no sponsorship available for this role)
Preferred (Not Required) Experience
- Owner's Engineer or technical due diligence support for thermal power projects
- General understanding of power plant operations and performance evaluation
- Familiarity with process design in electric power generation facilities
- Exposure to project economics, cost analysis, or contract development
- Knowledge of international design codes and standards
