Position Overview

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join our team in NJ. This role is pivotal in developing accurate cost estimates for large-scale electrical projects, including power and lighting systems, medium-voltage distribution, and specialized environments such as hospitals, pharmaceutical facilities, and data centers. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for electrical systems, including power and lighting.
  • Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and assign material and labor values.
  • Source and validate pricing for specialty equipment, materials, and systems.
  • Lead estimate reviews and monitor cost trends, comparing forecasts to final estimates.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor scopes, ensuring competitive and accurate pricing.
  • Support contract scope adjustments and manage field-related change orders.
  • Participate in project kick-off and turnover meetings to align stakeholders.
  • Occasionally visit job sites to assess conditions and support project needs.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable on-site presence as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in electrical construction estimating.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Proven expertise in power and lighting systems, with exposure to medium-voltage distribution and specialized sectors (pharmaceutical, healthcare, data centers).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Experience in both hard-bid and conceptual estimating.
  • Familiarity with ConEst or similar estimating software preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work for extended periods at a computer workstation.
  • Regular use of keyboard and mouse.
  • Occasional travel to construction sites, including navigating active work areas.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $150,000 - $200,000, plus bonus eligibility.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, and employee assistance programs.
