Senior Geotechnical Engineer
About the Role
My client is a well-established geotechnical, construction materials, and environmental consulting firm that has been serving clients for over 70 years. The company works on a variety of commercial, residential, and municipal projects throughout Northern Illinois, Northwest Indiana, Southern Wisconsin, and Eastern Iowa.
As an employee-owned organization, the company offers professionals the opportunity to contribute directly to the firm's continued success while working within a collaborative technical environment. They are currently seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in their office near Chicago.
This position is suited to a licensed geotechnical professional who enjoys managing projects from inception through completion, overseeing technical delivery, mentoring junior engineers, and serving as a key technical resource within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare proposals, budgets, and scopes of work for future projects
- Manage geotechnical projects from initiation through completion
- Perform and review geotechnical analyses and prepare geotechnical reports
- Schedule and provide recommendations and technical guidance to drilling crews, field technicians, and clients
- Review, mentor, and co-sign reports prepared by other engineers
- Track project budgets, invoicing, and overall financial performance
- Serve as a technical resource for internal project teams and ongoing assignments
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 8-15+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Experience preparing geotechnical reports for City of Chicago projects is a plus
- Experience preparing geotechnical reports for IDOT projects is a plus
