Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mission Critical Electrical Engineer to join a well‑established engineering firm supporting the design and analysis of high‑reliability electrical systems for mission‑critical facilities and data centers. This role focuses on power distribution, redundancy, resilience, and system performance for complex, always‑on environments.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned electrical engineer with deep experience in data center and mission‑critical infrastructure, capable of leading projects, mentoring engineers, and collaborating closely with clients and project teams. This is an onsite role based in the Baltimore region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead medium to large mission‑critical electrical design projects, providing technical oversight and direction
- Serve as a technical leader and mentor to junior engineers and designers
- Collaborate with clients, internal design teams, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle
- Support proposal development, including scope definition, fee development, and project budgeting
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and client reliability requirements
Technical Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 15+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including experience as a Lead Engineer on mission‑critical and/or data center projects
- Demonstrated design experience with:
- One‑line diagrams and specifications for mission‑critical electrical systems
- UPS systems, generators, medium‑voltage switchgear, and static transfer switches
- Redundant electrical architectures (e.g., Tier III/Tier IV, N+1, 2N)
- SCADA systems and automated operation of critical infrastructure
- Strong working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA, Uptime Institute, ANSI/TIA‑942)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to mentor and develop junior engineering staff
- Highly organized, collaborative, and detail‑oriented
Preferred Experience
- Proficiency with ETAP and/or SKM for power system analysis
- Experience using Revit for complex electrical system design in data center or raised‑floor environments
Additional Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Ability to obtain government security clearance (e.g., TS/SCI)
