Senior Power Systems Electrical Engineer

This company is a specialized organization offering a wide range of services for small and large utilities, industrial clients, and independent power producers. We provide power system operation studies, troubleshooting, facility design, upgrades, consultation, and technical analyses. Our capabilities include designing substations up to 230 kV, power plants ranging from 100 kW to 25 MW, and protection, control, and monitoring systems using relay- and PLC‑based technologies. We also have extensive experience with remote photovoltaic (PV) systems and have integrated both PV and wind generation into remote diesel power plants.

Through an affiliated company, we also offer design/build services for projects ranging from power plants to substations, transmission, and distribution systems.

We are currently seeking a Senior Power System Electrical Engineer to join our team.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts in substation design, power system studies, protection and coordination, and diesel power plant design
  • Serve as a technical lead and project manager within an engineering team
  • Perform or direct analysis of low‑ and medium‑voltage power systems, and design substations and power plants in unique environments
  • Develop controls and designs for integrating multiple generation technologies into a single plant
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Develop project proposals, scopes of work, and schedules
  • Manage projects independently, including coordinating data, tracking progress, and addressing client feedback
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to engineers as needed

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience in project scoping, estimating, and detailed electrical design
  • Experience mentoring or leading entry‑level engineers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with industry tools such as AutoCAD, SEL, Woodward, Comap, Basler, GE, ETAP, EasyPower, SKM, or PowerWorld
  • Knowledge of VFD controls and applications
  • Field experience preferred
  • Experience with microgrids, power plants, utilities, or off‑grid generation (wind, solar, hydro) is a plus
  • Ability to perform site visits and conduct project scoping meetings with clients
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required, or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months
