Senior Structural Engineer

A well‑established, Boston‑based structural engineering firm is seeking a Mid-Level Structural Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to take on meaningful responsibility, manage a variety of projects across the city, and advance into a leadership role over time.

About the Role

You'll work on a diverse portfolio that includes:

  • Ground‑up new construction
  • Historic restoration and building rehabilitation
  • Adaptive reuse and complex renovations
  • Multifamily, commercial, institutional, and specialty structures

You will manage projects from concept through construction, interface with clients and design partners, and provide mentorship to junior staff. The work environment is collaborative, flexible, and intentionally structured to support your long‑term technical and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design, analysis, and documentation for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Manage project workflows, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Conduct on-site evaluations, existing building assessments, and construction observations across Boston.
  • Ensure compliance with Boston and Massachusetts building codes and local permitting requirements.
  • Guide junior engineers and contribute to internal quality standards.
  • Coordinate closely with architects, contractors, and owners.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of structural engineering experience, ideally with built work in the Boston area.
  • Solid knowledge of local building codes, best practices, and city-specific structural requirements.
  • Prior experience leading tasks or managing a small engineering team.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard structural design software (Revit, RAM, ETABS, SAP2000, etc.).
  • PE license preferred (or on track to obtain one).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with clients and colleagues.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Hybrid flexibility: Work-life balance with 3 days in-office for collaboration.
  • High visibility: You'll play a key role on projects that shape the Boston skyline and preserve the city's architectural heritage.
  • Leadership path: Clear potential to grow into a Senior Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Mentorship culture: Direct access to senior technical experts who actively invest in staff development.
  • Interesting project mix: No cookie-cutter work-every project offers engineering challenges and variety.
  • Stable and growing firm: Long-term client relationships and a steady project pipeline.
