Senior Transportation Engineer
Our client, a 100% Employee owned, Nationally Respected Engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to lead multidisciplinary transportation projects across the Southeast. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed engineer to have the opportunity to head the Charlotte office and take on large responsibilities. This firm has an extensive backlog in Charlotte / Raleigh making a local impact with the support of workshare across multiple offices across the northeast and southeast.
The Senior Transportation Engineer will be responsible for:
- Leading highway/roadway design projects from preliminary engineering through final plans
- Managing project budgets, schedules, scopes, and deliverables
- Preparing plans, specifications, and estimates in accordance with DOT and AASHTO standards
- Overseeing roadway geometrics, horizontal/vertical alignments, cross sections, and traffic control plans
- Coordinating with subconsultants, utilities, and multidisciplinary internal teams
- Serving as a primary client contact for public agencies and state DOTs
- Supporting proposals, scopes, level-of-effort, and client presentations
- Mentoring junior engineers and promoting quality control best practices
The ideal candidate will have:
- 8+ years of experience in roadway/highway design and project management
- Strong familiarity with DOT standards and procedures (NCDOT preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (NC or ability to obtain)
- Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil 3D, or similar design software
- Demonstrated success leading teams and managing multiple concurrent projects
- Excellent communication, client-facing, and leadership skills
