Our client, a long-established regional civil engineering firm with multiple offices across the Mountain West, is seeking a Senior Civil Transportation Engineer / Project Manager to join their Montana team. This role will lead and deliver a wide range of transportation projects-including roadway and highway design, bridges and culverts, intersections and roundabouts, traffic analyses, and railroad infrastructure-while also supporting additional civil projects such as water/wastewater systems, stormwater infrastructure, subdivision development, and commercial site design. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex civil and transportation engineering projects for DOTs, federal agencies, municipalities, counties, railroads, and private clients
- Oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and overall project execution
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering staff across multiple offices
- Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates
- Coordinate and communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders
- Conduct construction oversight and administration as needed
- Lead business development activities including proposal preparation, client engagement, and project pursuits
- Support or manage additional civil projects such as water distribution, sewer collection, stormwater systems, site development, and federal facility work
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 10+ years of civil transportation engineering experience
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing projects, teams, and client relationships
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and deliver high-quality work on schedule
- Experience living or working in Montana is a plus
