About the Role
We're a civil and geotechnical engineering firm looking for a driven, experienced water resources/hydrology professional to help lead our practice forward. You'll be someone who thrives on solving tough hydrology and water resources problems, enjoys collaborating across disciplines, and wants to play an active role in building client relationships and pursuing new business. What You'll Be Doing
- Running surface water hydrology and hydraulic analyses, sediment transport studies, and groundwater flow modeling to support water resources projects
- Designing flood detention and water quality facilities, open channels and stormwater conveyance systems, storm drain outfalls, scour protection, creek and riverbank improvements, and groundwater wells
- Contributing to concept-level figures as well as construction-ready drawings and specifications
- Developing and implementing SWPPPs and SWMPs for project sites throughout California
- Leading or supporting field investigations - weather station setup, stream flow gauging, water quality sampling, creek condition assessments, and site inspections
- Writing technical memos, reports, proposals, and change orders
- Communicating and coordinating with clients, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and internal team members
- Contributing to business development - proposal writing, scope development, and fee estimating for both new and existing clients
- Building and growing client relationships, with increasing ownership of identifying opportunities and supporting pursuits
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and reviewing team deliverables
- Partnering with geotechnical engineers, environmental engineers, and geologists on cross-disciplinary work (levee design and seepage analysis, contaminant plume transport, infiltration/percolation testing, and similar)
- Taking on other responsibilities as they arise
What We're Looking For
- B.S. required, M.S. preferred, in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Roughly 7-15+ years of relevant experience
- Active PE license in California
- Hands-on proficiency with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, MODFLOW, GIS, and AutoCAD
- Solid grasp of local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting tied to water resources
- Familiarity with construction practices and typical project development phases
- Background in client service, project scoping, and business development
- Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal abilities
- A track record of mentoring and developing junior staff
