Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to join their team in Blacksburg, Virginia. This hybrid role is ideal for a senior-level professional with strong technical expertise in water and wastewater infrastructure design and delivery. The successful candidate will lead complex projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients to deliver sustainable and resilient infrastructure solutions.
About the Role
As a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the planning, design, and implementation of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality outcomes that meet regulatory standards and client expectations. This role offers the opportunity to take on technical leadership responsibilities while contributing to impactful projects across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of water and wastewater treatment, conveyance, and distribution systems
- Prepare engineering reports, technical memoranda, and construction documents
- Perform hydraulic modeling, permitting, and cost estimating
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop effective solutions
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and technical workshops
- Contribute to proposal development and project pursuits
- Mentor junior staff and promote technical excellence within the team
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Strong technical background in treatment and conveyance systems
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a hybrid environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software and design tools
- Familiarity with asset management, sustainability practices, and alternative delivery methods
- Experience working with municipal clients in Virginia or surrounding regions
