Job Overview

An engineering consulting firm is seeking a Stormwater Project Manager to join its Charlotte‑based stormwater and water resources practice. This role is suited for a seasoned stormwater professional who can manage complex projects, oversee technical delivery, and lead teams while working closely with clients on long‑term stormwater and watershed initiatives across North Carolina and the surrounding region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage stormwater programs and projects from early planning through final delivery, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards

  • Oversee technical work related to stormwater systems, watershed studies, drainage infrastructure, flood risk reduction, and environmental and regulatory requirements

  • Coordinate with internal multidisciplinary teams to develop effective and sustainable engineering solutions

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring clear communication throughout project execution

  • Provide technical direction and project oversight to engineers and designers, reviewing work for accuracy and compliance

  • Mentor and support junior staff, contributing to team development and a collaborative office culture

  • Monitor project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and contract administration

  • Balance multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and client expectations

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent professional experience

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in stormwater or water resources engineering

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Demonstrated experience managing projects and leading or mentoring technical teams

  • Strong understanding of project delivery, scheduling, and financial management

  • Experience working with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools such as HEC‑RAS, SWMM, or similar software is preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team‑oriented environment
