About the Role:
LVI Associates is working with a reputable structural engineering firm based in Sonoma County, CA, to find a skilled Structural Designer. This firm is known for its collaborative culture and commitment to high-quality design across a variety of structural projects, including buildings, bridges, and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design structural systems for buildings, bridges, and other structures using CAD software.
  • Analyze architectural and engineering plans to determine structural design requirements, materials, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Calculate loads, stresses, and forces to ensure safe and stable structures.
  • Create detailed construction drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and drafters to integrate structural design with other building systems.
  • Evaluate and plan repairs or retrofits for existing structures to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Attend site visits and meetings with clients and contractors to review design plans and monitor construction progress.
  • Simulate structural behavior using engineering software and adjust designs as needed.
  • Work with project managers to develop and meet project timelines and budgets.
  • Stay current with advances in structural design and incorporate new techniques and tools.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with a structural engineering firm (preferred).
  • Proficiency in structural engineering software such as ETABS, ADAPT, and AutoCAD.
  • PE or SE license (California preferred or ability to obtain).
  • Strong understanding of structural design principles, building codes, and construction practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
