Structural Forensic Engineer

Forensic Field Engineer (Remote) (MUST BE BASED IN GEORGIA)

Start Your Career with Purpose, Autonomy, and Real-World Impact

If you're a newly licensed Professional Engineer looking to break away from traditional office roles and apply your skills in a dynamic, hands-on environment, this opportunity is designed for you. Or an experienced PE licensed engineer looking for a change to step into a family driven team with an understanding that your job role does not define you! As a Forensic Engineer, you'll gain immediate exposure to real-world structural and material assessments, working directly on-site to evaluate storm damage, construction defects, and structural failures. This role offers the perfect blend of fieldwork and remote flexibility, with comprehensive training that transforms your foundational engineering knowledge into specialized expertise in forensic investigations.

Position Overview:

This is a full-time, remote-based position with a hybrid schedule. You will conduct on-site inspections three days per week across your local region, and spend the remaining two days working from your home office to complete detailed reports. All necessary tools, equipment, and training are provided-including a company vehicle, ladders, safety gear, and software.

You will inspect a wide range of structures, including residential, commercial, and municipal buildings. This includes interior and exterior assessments, with a significant focus on roofing systems. You must be comfortable working at heights and navigating steep or elevated surfaces. Your findings will be documented through labeled photographs, field notes, sketches, and written reports using our proprietary software.

What We're Looking For:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in your state of residence, or eligibility to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent written communication and computer skills (no coding required).
  • Physical ability to climb ladders (up to 36 feet), walk on sloped roofs, and carry equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel locally for inspections.
  • Comfort with heights and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

No Prior Experience in Forensics? No Problem.

We provide in-depth, hands-on training that will equip you with the skills to:

  • Identify and assess storm, water, and structural damage.
  • Understand construction materials and installation methods.
  • Conduct root-cause analyses and code compliance evaluations.
  • Use industry-standard tools and safety protocols.

Career Growth & Advancement:

  • Opportunities for cross-training in other forensic disciplines.
  • Frequent travel opportunities with additional bonuses.
  • Clear pathways for advancement into senior roles or specialized areas of interest.
  • A collaborative, knowledge-sharing team environment where your growth is supported and encouraged.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Starting salary: $90,000-$150,000, based on experience and background.
  • Higher starting salaries for candidates with experience in structural engineering, roofing, construction, or damage assessments.
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO) plus 17 company-observed holidays in your first year.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Health insurance reimbursement program.
  • Company-provided truck, credit card, laptop, monitors, printer, and all necessary tools and safety gear.
  • All PE licensing fees, renewals, and NCEES record costs covered.
  • Paid professional development hours (PDHs) and access to advanced training courses.
  • Performance-based raises and bonuses, including incentives for travel and late-day inspections.
