Substation Engineer EIT/PE
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Substation Engineer to join our Power Delivery team. This position can focus on Physical Design (primary equipment layout and structures) or Protection & Control (P&C) (schematic design and relay settings), depending on your expertise. You will play a key role in designing high-voltage substations for transmission and distribution systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Physical Design Focus:
- Develop substation physical layouts (69kV-500kV), including equipment arrangement, bus configurations, and grounding plans.
- Prepare detailed drawings for structures, foundations, and equipment supports.
- Perform clearance checks, conductor sizing, and mechanical loading calculations.
Protection & Control Focus:
- Design AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay panel layouts.
- Develop protection schemes for transmission and distribution substations.
- Configure and review relay settings and logic for system protection.
General Duties:
- Coordinate with civil, structural, and electrical teams for integrated designs.
- Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Support construction and commissioning activities as needed.
- Maintain adherence to NESC, IEEE, and client standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in substation engineering (Physical or P&C).
- Licensure: EIT or PE license preferred.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation) and relevant design software.
- Strong understanding of industry codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, ANSI).
- Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
