Substation Engineer

The Substation Engineer role involves performing a variety of engineering tasks that build experience and familiarity with industry standards, methods, and practices. While working under general supervision, you'll have the opportunity to exercise independence on assigned engineering responsibilities.

We are currently hiring for this position in the following offices: Baltimore, MD; Baton Rouge, LA; Katy, TX; Raleigh, NC; and Summerville, SC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing plans, specifications, and inspection reports.
  • Support preparation of material lists and labor contracts.
  • Contribute to the design and construction drawings for Solar/Wind Farms, Battery Storage, substations, and utility interconnections-including AC/DC systems and low/medium/high voltage configurations.
  • Provide basic administration for material purchases and construction contracts.
  • Guide designers and CAD operators within your assigned team.
  • Engage in limited customer and vendor interactions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in at least one area of renewable or substation engineering (e.g., physical layout design, protection/control/SCADA design, relay settings programming, field support, commissioning, relay testing).
  • Supervise and assist in training Project Engineer I team members.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook for daily tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Certification: Engineer in Training (EIT) required; passing the PE exam is a plus.
