Superintendent - New Jersey
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent with approximately 5+ years of expertise in heavy civil construction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in complex foundation work, including drilled shafts, micropiles, H-piles, sheet piling, tiebacks, and related systems-particularly in challenging environments such as highways, bridges, marine, and industrial facilities.
Successful candidates demonstrate strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and an unwavering commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate field crews, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Provide forepersons with the tools, materials, and information needed for success.
- Monitor subcontractor progress, budgets, and schedules.
- Interpret project specifications and ensure compliance.
- Track productivity and costs for assigned work tasks.
- Apply QA/QC processes to maintain the highest quality standards.
- Oversee all construction activities on assigned project sites.
- Respond proactively to changing site conditions and unforeseen challenges.
- Manage documentation, submittals, material tracking, and reporting.
- Produce weekly safety reports and maintain compliance with safety standards.
- Plan manpower needs and contribute to construction designs, including major pick plans.
- Analyze survey data, maps, and drawings to plan projects effectively.
- Manage budgets and job cost reports for foundation-related work.
- Inspect sites to ensure progress and adherence to specifications.
- Assist in tracking and submitting claims for foundation items.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Approximately 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction with extensive foundation expertise.
- Ability to manage fast-paced schedules and shifting priorities.
- Strong knowledge of industry best practices, OSHA requirements, and QA/QC standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's license.
- Projects are local
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification (preferred).
- Marine construction experience (a plus).
