Superintendent
Position Overview
The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations on assigned construction projects. This role ensures that work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. The Superintendent leads all on-site activities, coordinates subcontractors and vendors, and serves as the primary field representative for project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Coordination
- Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities from start to completion.
- Coordinate scheduling and workflow among subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and field staff.
- Conduct daily site meetings and maintain clear communication among all project partners.
- Ensure construction plans and specifications are executed accurately.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety protocols and maintain a hazard-free job site.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Quality Control
- Monitor workmanship and materials to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Identify issues proactively and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintain quality documentation.
Scheduling & Productivity
- Create, maintain, and adjust short-interval schedules to keep the project on track.
- Coordinate material deliveries and equipment needs to ensure workflow efficiency.
- Identify potential delays and develop mitigation strategies.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily logs, progress reports, safety records, and field documentation.
- Communicate project status and field updates to Project Managers and stakeholders.
- Assist with change orders, RFIs, and other project-related documentation.
Team Leadership
- Provide direction, support, and oversight to field personnel.
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors and promote a collaborative team environment.
- Mentor junior staff and support their professional development.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Superintendent or similar field leadership role in construction.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, building processes, and project sequencing.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency with scheduling tools and project management software.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality.
Preferred Attributes
- OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification.
- Experience managing multi-phase or large-scale projects.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions under pressure.
