Superintendent - Water/Wastewater Treatment (North Carolina)

General Contractor | Treatment Plants, Pump/Lift Stations, Process Mechanical & Concrete

Overview
A well-established general contractor with a strong footprint across North Carolina is seeking a Superintendent to lead field operations on water and wastewater treatment plant projects. You'll drive schedule, safety, and quality while coordinating self-perform crews and specialty subs on complex, concrete- and process-heavy work.

What You'll Do

  • Own day-to-day field leadership: planning, look-aheads, crew allocation, and production tracking.
  • Oversee civil, structural concrete, and process mechanical scopes (FRP/SS piping, equipment setting, yard piping).
  • Champion safety (JHAs, daily huddles, site audits) and maintain a zero-incident culture.
  • Manage inspections, testing, QA/QC, start-up, and commissioning alongside project teams.
  • Coordinate with PM/PE on submittals, RFIs, change events, and cost controls; keep accurate daily reports.
  • Lead subcontractor coordination meetings; hold trades accountable to contract documents and schedule.
  • Build strong relationships with owners, engineers, and inspectors to keep work moving.

What You'll Bring

  • 5-10+ years supervising water/wastewater treatment or heavy civil projects for a GC.
  • Depth in structural concrete, process mechanical, deep excavations/shoring, and plant upgrades/live facilities.
  • Working knowledge of plans/specs, ACI/AWWA tolerances, testing, and start-up/commissioning on treatment facilities.
  • Proficiency with field tech (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project or P6) and solid documentation habits.
  • OSHA 30 required; First Aid/CPR preferred; USACE CQM and NCDOT/NCDEQ exposure are pluses.
  • Willingness to travel to jobs across NC (Charlotte, Triangle, Triad, Fayetteville, Wilmington, and surrounding areas).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary with project and annual bonus potential.
  • Truck allowance or company vehicle, fuel card, per diem for travel.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability; 401(k) with match and paid time off.
  • Career path with steady backlog and opportunities to run marquee treatment work.
