Project Manager - Land Surveying
We are seeking an experienced Land Surveying Project Manager to oversee and deliver a variety of survey projects from our office-based operations. This role plays a key part in coordinating project workflows, ensuring quality deliverables, and serving as a bridge between field teams, technical staff, clients, and regulatory stakeholders. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, technically strong in survey data processing, and capable of managing multiple active projects with efficiency and professionalism.
Essential Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead and manage multiple land and utility surveying projects from initiation to final deliverables.
- Coordinate daily activities between field crews, office staff, and specialized subcontractors (e.g., LiDAR, aerial mapping, geotechnical services).
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and milestones to ensure timely completion.
- Develop scopes of work, timelines, and cost estimates.
- Track project progress and maintain accuracy and quality across all deliverables.
- Maintain consistent communication with engineering teams, clients, and internal project managers.
Survey Data Processing & Deliverables
- Process field data using survey and CAD software.
- Prepare and review survey drawings, plats, exhibits, and legal descriptions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and industry standards.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of data, mapping, and final documents.
Technical Coordination
- Provide technical guidance to field crews on methodology, accuracy standards, and project requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, and construction teams.
- Interpret deeds, plats, easements, and right‑of‑way documents.
- Support boundary analysis and development of control networks.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects.
- Participate in project meetings and assist with proposal development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- LSIT certification (preferred but not required).
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field-or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of progressive land surveying experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or comparable survey drafting software.
- Strong understanding of survey principles, boundary fundamentals, and field‑to‑finish workflows.
- Experience managing projects and directing field survey crews.
- Working knowledge of ALTA/NSPS surveys, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking.
- Familiarity with LiDAR, aerial mapping, and drone survey data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to safety, particularly when working near utilities, active roadways, or construction sites.
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours when required.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to solve complex problems.
