Transportation Engineer - Bridge | 0-5 years of experience | WV
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a motivated Bridge Project Engineer to join our Transportation/Structures team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, analysis, and delivery of bridge and structural projects across the region-ranging from new bridge design to rehabilitation and inspection support.
This is a hands-on opportunity to work on impactful transportation infrastructure while developing technical expertise under the guidance of experienced structural engineers, with a clear path toward project leadership and licensure.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Perform structural analysis and design for bridge and transportation structures (steel, concrete, prestressed systems)
- Develop bridge plans, details, and specifications in accordance with AASHTO, DOT, and client standards
- Assist with bridge inspections, load ratings, and condition assessments
- Support rehabilitation and replacement projects, including structural evaluation and design of repairs
- Coordinate with roadway, geotechnical, and hydraulic teams on multidisciplinary transportation projects
- Assist in project management tasks including schedule tracking, client communication, and coordination with agencies and contractors
- Participate in field visits, site investigations, and construction support/observation
- Contribute to proposal development and technical scopes for bridge and transportation pursuits
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited), with a focus on structural or transportation engineering
- Required: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Preferred: 1-5 years of experience in bridge/structural design or transportation projects (internship experience included)
- Preferred: Experience with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and DOT design standards
- Preferred: Proficiency in MicroStation/OpenBridge, LEAP, or similar bridge design/analysis software (experience with AutoCAD also considered)
- Plus: Exposure to bridge inspection (NBIS), load rating, or rehabilitation design
- Plus: Progression toward PE licensure
- Plus: Familiarity with Mid-Atlantic DOT requirements (WVDOH, PennDOT, VDOT, etc.)
