We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Specialist to help expand our VFD solutions nationwide. This role blends strong technical expertise with strategic sales execution to drive growth, support customers, and enhance the overall VFD product offering.
Role Summary
The VFD Specialist will collaborate closely with Account Managers, customers, and manufacturing partners to deliver application support, develop solutions, and manage the VFD sales pipeline. This position requires deep knowledge of electrical systems, strong communication skills, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical, customer-ready solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Growth & Strategy
- Develop and execute strategies to expand VFD product adoption in target markets.
- Identify high-value opportunities and support proposal development alongside Account Managers.
- Conduct customer visits to present solutions, resolve technical challenges, and support closing activities.
- Monitor industry trends and competitive offerings to refine sales tactics.
Technical Support & Expertise
- Serve as the internal and external subject matter expert for VFD products.
- Provide application guidance, assist with drive selection, and troubleshoot issues during pre- and post-sale stages.
- Deliver demos, presentations, and training for customers and internal teams.
- Support commissioning and system start-up activities as needed.
Customer Engagement
- Build strong customer relationships rooted in trust, technical credibility, and responsive support.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and identify cross-selling opportunities across automation and controls.
Manufacturer & Partner Collaboration
- Act as the primary point of contact with VFD manufacturers for pricing, updates, and technical insights.
- Coordinate joint customer visits, training events, and shared growth initiatives.
- Communicate product feedback and market insights to manufacturer partners.
Pipeline & Performance Management
- Manage the VFD sales pipeline, including forecasting and CRM updates.
- Track performance metrics and provide regular reporting on opportunities and customer engagement.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and responsiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in technical sales or application engineering within electrical, automation, or industrial controls.
- Strong understanding of VFDs, motor control theory, and power systems.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Excellent presentation, organization, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, Epicor) and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with VFD manufacturers or distributors.
- Hands-on drive programming, commissioning, or field service experience.
- Familiarity with automation components (PLCs, HMIs, control products).
- Experience delivering technical training.
