Role Summary
The Water Resources Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, and delivering projects involving water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. The position requires a licensed Professional Engineer with strong technical capabilities, leadership skills, and the ability to manage scope, schedule, and client expectations.
This individual will help guide junior staff, contribute to business development efforts, and serve as a technical resource across multiple functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, designers, and technical staff.
- Provide engineering services for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.
- Develop detailed designs using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and H&H modeling software.
- Conduct design reviews, quality checks, and constructability assessments.
- Integrate environmental, structural, and geotechnical considerations into project solutions.
- Manage project scope, resources, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Identify risks and communicate mitigation strategies to teams and clients.
- Prepare technical reports, calculations, plans, presentations, and proposals.
- Coordinate internally to align engineering, field operations, and construction efforts.
- Conduct site visits and field assessments during planning, design, and construction phases.
- Support business development, marketing, and client‑facing initiatives.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and assist in pursuing new opportunities.
- Provide technical guidance in design criteria development and project delivery approaches.
- Ensure compliance with P.E. standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil preferred).
- Active Tennessee Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Minimum 3 years of experience involving project management responsibilities.
- At least 5 years of civil engineering experience in water resources.
- Proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and common H&H modeling software.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time‑management abilities.
