BAS Project Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop control system architecture and sequence of operations for HVAC and building automation systems using Distech and Alerton platforms.
Create detailed control drawings, submittals, wiring diagrams, and point-to-point documentation.
Develop and test custom control logic and programming for DDC controllers.
Coordinate and collaborate with project stakeholders including contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
Commission, troubleshoot, and optimize building automation systems to ensure they perform to specifications.
Integrate third-party systems such as lighting, security, and energy management via BACnet, Modbus, or LON protocols.
Provide technical support and training to end-users and internal staff.
Ensure project delivery meets deadlines, budget, and quality standards.
Maintain accurate documentation for as-built systems and provide input for system manuals and training materials.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in building automation or HVAC controls engineering.
Hands-on experience with Distech (EC-Net, EC-BOS, ECL/ECB controllers) and/or Alerton (Compass, Envision, Ascent) systems is required.
Strong knowledge of control theory, HVAC systems, and system integration protocols (BACnet, Modbus, etc.).
Proficiency with control software tools, AutoCAD or Visio, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Automation Engineering.
Niagara AX/N4 certification.
Distech and/or Alerton manufacturer certifications.
Experience with IP-based controls and IoT integration.
