BAS Project Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop control system architecture and sequence of operations for HVAC and building automation systems using Distech and Alerton platforms.

  • Create detailed control drawings, submittals, wiring diagrams, and point-to-point documentation.

  • Develop and test custom control logic and programming for DDC controllers.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with project stakeholders including contractors, consultants, and internal teams.

  • Commission, troubleshoot, and optimize building automation systems to ensure they perform to specifications.

  • Integrate third-party systems such as lighting, security, and energy management via BACnet, Modbus, or LON protocols.

  • Provide technical support and training to end-users and internal staff.

  • Ensure project delivery meets deadlines, budget, and quality standards.

  • Maintain accurate documentation for as-built systems and provide input for system manuals and training materials.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in building automation or HVAC controls engineering.

  • Hands-on experience with Distech (EC-Net, EC-BOS, ECL/ECB controllers) and/or Alerton (Compass, Envision, Ascent) systems is required.

  • Strong knowledge of control theory, HVAC systems, and system integration protocols (BACnet, Modbus, etc.).

  • Proficiency with control software tools, AutoCAD or Visio, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Automation Engineering.

  • Niagara AX/N4 certification.

  • Distech and/or Alerton manufacturer certifications.

  • Experience with IP-based controls and IoT integration.
