About the Role

The Certified Asbestos Investigator will conduct asbestos inspections, sampling, and ACP5 filings across the five boroughs of New York City. This position is primarily field-based and ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, navigating diverse building types and project conditions. Candidates with deeper experience may take on project management responsibilities, including client coordination and oversight of multi-site inspection programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform asbestos inspections and bulk sampling in accordance with NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and EPA regulations.

  • Complete ACP5 forms and other required documentation with accuracy and timeliness.

  • Conduct site assessments across all five NYC boroughs, often independently.

  • Prepare clear, detailed field notes and inspection reports.

  • Communicate findings to internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies as needed.

  • Maintain proper chain-of-custody procedures for all samples.

  • For senior candidates:

    • Manage project schedules, client communication, and deliverables.

    • Oversee junior field staff and ensure quality control across projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Active NYC Certified Asbestos Investigator license.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial hygiene, environmental consulting, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting asbestos sampling and inspections within the five boroughs.

  • Strong understanding of NYC DEP, EPA, and OSHA regulations related to asbestos.

  • Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mold assessments, lead-based paint inspections, and indoor air quality (IAQ) evaluations.

  • Familiarity with building systems, construction practices, and renovation workflows.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Project management experience (for senior-level applicants).
