About the Role
The Certified Asbestos Investigator will conduct asbestos inspections, sampling, and ACP5 filings across the five boroughs of New York City. This position is primarily field-based and ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, navigating diverse building types and project conditions. Candidates with deeper experience may take on project management responsibilities, including client coordination and oversight of multi-site inspection programs.
Key Responsibilities
Perform asbestos inspections and bulk sampling in accordance with NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and EPA regulations.
Complete ACP5 forms and other required documentation with accuracy and timeliness.
Conduct site assessments across all five NYC boroughs, often independently.
Prepare clear, detailed field notes and inspection reports.
Communicate findings to internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies as needed.
Maintain proper chain-of-custody procedures for all samples.
For senior candidates:
Manage project schedules, client communication, and deliverables.
Oversee junior field staff and ensure quality control across projects.
Required Qualifications
Active NYC Certified Asbestos Investigator license.
Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial hygiene, environmental consulting, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience conducting asbestos sampling and inspections within the five boroughs.
Strong understanding of NYC DEP, EPA, and OSHA regulations related to asbestos.
Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with mold assessments, lead-based paint inspections, and indoor air quality (IAQ) evaluations.
Familiarity with building systems, construction practices, and renovation workflows.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Project management experience (for senior-level applicants).
