Civil Engineer - Asset Management (W/WW)

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Asset Management Consultant to support the planning, development, and implementation of asset management programs for public and private water and wastewater utilities. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, strategic thinking, and a passion for improving utility performance through data-driven decision-making.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or support the delivery of asset management projects, including asset inventories, condition assessments, and capital planning.
  • Conduct gap assessments and develop asset management plans aligned with industry best practices.
  • Evaluate utility operations and maintenance (O&M) practices and recommend improvements to extend asset life and reduce lifecycle costs.
  • Facilitate workshops and collaborate with utility staff to define service levels, performance metrics, and risk-based prioritization frameworks.
  • Analyze large datasets from GIS, CMMS, and condition assessment tools to support strategic planning.
  • Assist in the selection, configuration, and implementation of enterprise asset management systems (EAMS/CMMS) and related technologies (e.g., GIS, mobile tools, business intelligence platforms).
  • Support business process improvement initiatives and change management strategies.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and client deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in utility asset management, preferably in the water/wastewater sector.
  • Proficiency with CMMS, GIS, and data analytics tools; experience with Innovyze InfoAsset, SQL, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with client engagement and facilitation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with utility master planning, capital improvement planning, or infrastructure finance.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and reporting requirements for public utilities.
  • PMP, IAM, or similar certification is a plus.
