Civil Engineer (PE) - Site Development

Full-Time | Hybrid | Washington State

Salary Range: $90,000 - $160,000 annually (depending on experience)


Overview

A nationally recognized architecture, engineering, and construction services firm is seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer to support a growing portfolio of site development and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on civil engineer who enjoys combining technical design work with project coordination and client interaction.

The Civil Project Engineer will manage design tasks, support project delivery from planning through construction, and collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, and permitting agencies.


What You'll Do

  • Prepare civil construction plans, feasibility studies, engineering reports, and cost estimates
  • Develop grading plans, roadway layouts, profiles, and details using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Perform detailed calculations for stormwater systems, utilities, and roadway improvements
  • Coordinate with municipalities, review agencies, clients, and subconsultants during permitting
  • Research and apply applicable regulatory requirements and design standards
  • Prepare site development plans for:
    • Commercial and retail developments
    • Residential and mixed‑use projects
    • Industrial facilities and business parks
    • Master‑planned communities
  • Collaborate with designers, drafters, and administrative staff to meet schedules and budgets
  • Support project administration, including project setup, billing coordination, and contract tracking
  • Participate in internal and external meetings and provide technical input and updates

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Minimum 5 years of civil engineering experience in an engineering or construction firm
  • 5+ years of site development design experience
  • Strong knowledge of grading, drainage, utilities, and site civil design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D, including alignments, profiles, corridors, and surfaces
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate with stakeholders, and meet deadlines
  • Desire to remain a hands‑on technical contributor while supporting project leadership
