Control Engineer
A locally based industrial automation and controls engineering firm is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Siemens Step 7. This role supports complex, high-reliability industrial systems and works closely with a small, highly technical engineering team.
This is not an entry-level or generalist position. The team values depth, clean implementations, and engineers who have lived through real systems in production.
What you will do
- Design, program, troubleshoot, and support Siemens Step 7 based control systems
- Work on upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle support for existing Siemens environments
- Diagnose and correct poorly implemented legacy automation systems
- Support commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities as needed
- Collaborate directly with other engineers and technical leads, not layers of management
- Produce clear, maintainable logic and documentation that holds up long term
What we are looking for
- Strong, hands-on experience with Siemens Step 7 is required
- Solid background in industrial automation, PLCs, and control systems
- Experience supporting or modifying existing production systems, not just greenfield builds
- Comfort working independently and owning technical decisions
- Ability to communicate clearly with engineers and technical stakeholders
- Local to the Boise area or willing to work onsite as needed
Nice to have
- Experience with Siemens PCS 7 or TIA Portal
- Background in industries such as manufacturing, process, energy, chemical, or food and beverage
- Experience with system migrations or legacy platform modernization
- Commissioning or startup experience in live environments
