We're partnered with a US‑based systems integrator delivering automation and controls solutions across industrial, commercial, and technical environments nationwide. The business is heavily involved in large‑scale infrastructure, including data center and mission‑critical projects, but this experience is not required for this role.
They are growing their controls team and are seeking a Controls Engineer who enjoys hands‑on project work, field exposure, and building practical, scalable automation solutions.
The Role
As a Controls Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and commissioning control systems from concept through startup. This is a remote-based position with approximately 60% travel to customer sites across the US.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop PLC and HMI/SCADA applications for automation projects
- Program, test, and commission control systems in the field
- Collaborate with customers and internal engineering teams to deliver project requirements
- Troubleshoot, modify, and support existing control systems
- Produce and maintain technical documentation (control narratives, I/O lists, test plans, etc.)
Required Experience
- Experience with Allen‑Bradley / Rockwell Automation platforms and/or Ignition
- Strong PLC programming and HMI/SCADA development skills
- Hands‑on involvement in system startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Willingness to travel up to 60%
- Comfortable working independently on-site and representing the business with customers
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience in data centers or mission‑critical environments
- Background working for a systems integrator
- Experience with both Allen‑Bradley and Ignition
- Exposure to industrial, infrastructure, or utility-based automation projects
