Hybrid (3 days in-office / 2 days remote)
An established environmental consulting firm is seeking a Environmental Project Manager to lead complex site assessment and remediation projects across New Jersey. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background and proven experience managing projects, clients, and regulatory processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage environmental investigation and remediation projects from proposal through closure
- Oversee Phase I/II ESAs, remedial investigations, and NJDEP-driven remediation programs
- Serve as a primary client contact, managing relationships and expectations
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules; ensure delivery aligns with timelines and financial targets
- Provide technical oversight on soil, groundwater, and soil vapor investigations and remediation strategies
- Review and approve technical reports, regulatory submissions, and work plans
- Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and NJDEP regulators
- Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on field activities and reporting
- Conduct limited field oversight as needed
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in environmental consulting
- 2+ years of project management experience with increasing responsibility
- Strong background in environmental site assessment and remediation
- In-depth knowledge of NJDEP regulations, guidance, and reporting requirements
- Hands-on experience with groundwater, soil, and soil vapor investigations
- Field background with the ability to lead and oversee site activities
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, and client relationships
- Strong technical writing, communication, and leadership skills
