Job Title: Fire Protection Designer
Location: Remote, Florida or Colorado
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Fire Protection Designer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the MEP industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire protection system design, code consulting, and fire alarm systems. No specific project experience is needed but a variety within the MEP space is a plus. This role will join an existing team of fire protection designers and will be primarily focused on design and
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and layout of fire protection systems including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems.
- Perform fire alarm system design, including device layout, circuiting, and voltage drop calculations.
- Provide code consulting services, interpreting and applying NFPA, IBC, IFC, and local codes to ensure compliance.
- Prepare detailed design drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software.
- Conduct hydraulic calculations and system performance analysis.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate fire protection and alarm systems into building designs.
- Review and approve shop drawings, submittals, and specifications.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to verify installation and compliance.
- Mentor junior designers and provide technical leadership.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and code updates.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in fire protection and fire alarm system design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and fire protection design software.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, including NFPA 13, 72, 101, and 20.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- EIT or PE license is a plus.
