Fully Remote Florida Senior CAD Designer
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CAD Designer with extensive experience supporting FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation) projects. The ideal candidate is a self‑sufficient, detail‑oriented professional capable of delivering high‑quality design work in a remote working environment.
This role requires strong technical proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), 3D modeling, and related civil infrastructure design tools. The Senior CAD Designer will collaborate with engineering teams to produce accurate plans, models, and deliverables for transportation and roadway projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine 2D plans and 3D models for roadway, drainage, utilities, and transportation infrastructure projects.
- Produce FDOT-compliant plans, adhering to all applicable standards, manuals, and workflows.
- Work independently in a remote environment, managing workload, deadlines, and communication efficiently.
- Prepare technical drawings, layout designs, cross sections, plan sheets, and construction documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure accurate interpretation of design requirements.
- Perform quality checks on design outputs to maintain consistency and accuracy.
- Provide support in developing digital terrain models (DTM), corridor modeling, and design visualization.
- Troubleshoot CAD and modeling issues and propose improvements to workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in civil infrastructure design or roadway CAD production.
- Hands‑on experience with FDOT projects, standards, and deliverable requirements.
- Strong proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
- Demonstrated ability in 3D modeling, corridor modeling, and advanced design tools.
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote/WFH environment with minimal oversight.
- Excellent organization and time‑management skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with dispersed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FDOT CONNECTED workflows and digital delivery.
- Familiarity with roadway design automation or scripting is a plus.
- Background in transportation design firms or engineering consultancies.
